Gorontalo

Gorontalo is a language spoken in Gorontalo Province, Sulawesi Island, Indonesia. It is also spoken in some parts of North Sulawesi and Central Sulawesi. Gorontalo is one of the Sulawesi languages. It is most closely related to the Mamasa language of Sulawesi. The Gorontalo language is spoken by about 1.6 million people. Most Gorontalo speakers are Muslim. The language is taught in schools and used in the media. Gorontalo has its own writing system. It is based on the Latin alphabet and has 26 letters. The Gorontalo alphabet was created in the 1950s. Gorontalo is a language with a rich oral tradition. Gorontalo folktales are popular among both children and adults. The language is also used in music and poetry.
