The Timne language is a West Atlantic language spoken in Liberia. It is spoken by the Timne people. The language is also spoken in Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast. Timne is a member of the Mande language family. The Timne language has three dialects: Kpa, Gola and Kpelle. The Kpa dialect is spoken in Liberia, while the Gola and Kpelle dialects are spoken in Sierra Leone. The Timne language is written in the Latin alphabet. There is no standard orthography, but the Gola dialect is typically written with a modified form of the Latin alphabet. The Timne language is spoken by about 1.5 million people. The vast majority of Timne speakers are monolingual, but there is a small minority of bilinguals who also speak English or French. The Timne language has a rich oral tradition. There are a number of folktales and proverbs that are commonly quoted. The Timne language is also the language of choice for many traditional songs and dances.
