Innu-aimun

Innu-aimun, also known as Montagnais, is an Algonquian language spoken by the Innu people of Quebec and Labrador in Canada. It is a member of the Cree-Montagnais-Naskapi family of languages. Innu-aimun is spoken by about 18,000 people, most of whom live in the communities of Natuashish and Sheshatshiu in Labrador, and in the town of Maliotenam in Quebec. It is also spoken by some Innu people in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Innu-aimun is a polysynthetic language, meaning that words can be very long and complex. It is also a highly inflected language, with a large number of grammatical endings. The Innu people have a rich oral tradition, and many of their stories and legends are passed down through the generations in the form of songs and stories. The Innu language is an important part of this heritage. Innu-aimun is also the language of the Innu Nation, the political organization that represents the Innu people of Quebec and Labrador. The Innu Nation has its own flag and anthem, both of which are in Innu-aimun.
