Friulian

According to the Ethnologue, Friulian is a Romance language spoken in the Friuli region of Italy. It is also spoken in some other parts of the world by Friuli immigrants. The language is also known as Friulano or Friulan. Friulian is a Romance language of the Western Romance group. It is closely related to Ladin, a Romance language spoken in the Dolomites area of Italy. Friulian is also related to the Romansh language of Switzerland. Friulian is spoken in the province of Udine, in the northeastern part of Italy. It is also spoken in some other parts of the world by Friuli immigrants. The Friulian language has about 700,000 speakers. Most of the Friulian speakers are bilingual, speaking both Friulian and Italian. The Friulian language is regulated by the Friulian Language Academy, which is based in Udine. The Friulian Academy is responsible for promoting and preserving the Friulian language and culture.
