Hmong Njua

Hmong Njua, also known as Blue Hmong, is a language spoken by the Hmong people in China, Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand. It is a member of the Hmong–Mien languages, which is a subgroup of the Hmongic languages within the larger Austroasiatic language family. Hmong Njua is not mutually intelligible with other Hmongic languages, such as Hmong Daw and Mong Njua. The Hmong people have a long history in China, dating back to at least the Han Dynasty. During the Ming Dynasty, the Hmong were given the title "Miao", and they were classified as one of the 55 ethnic minority groups in China. The Hmong played a significant role in the Sino-Vietnamese War (1979-1981), helping the Chinese to defeat the Vietnamese. Hmong Njua is a tonal language, with four tones: high, middle, low, and falling. The falling tone is used for words that end in a consonant. There are two main dialects of Hmong Njua: White Hmong and Green Hmong. White Hmong is spoken in China, Laos, and Vietnam, while Green Hmong is spoken in Thailand. The Hmong Njua alphabet is based on the Latin alphabet, with some additional letters to represent tones. There are a total of 33 letters in the alphabet. The Hmong Njua language is spoken by about 1.5 million people worldwide. It is an important language for the Hmong people, as it is used in many aspects of their daily lives, including religion, education, and business.
