Ukrainian Karbovanets

UAK is the currency of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It was introduced on September 1, 1993, replacing the Soviet ruble at a rate of 1 UAK = 1000 rubles. The name "UAK" is an acronym of the Uzbekistan words "so'm" (money) and "qimmat" (value). The UAK is subdivided into 100 tiyins. The first UAK banknotes were introduced in 1993 in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 tiyins. In 1994, 500- and 1000-tiyin notes were added. A new series of banknotes was introduced in 1999, in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 tiyins. The UAK has been relatively stable since its introduction, with an exchange rate of around 2,500 UAK per US dollar.
