Ugandan Shilling (1966–1987)

The Uganda Shilling is the official currency of Uganda. It is subdivided into 100 cents. The Central Bank of Uganda is responsible for issuing the currency. The shilling was introduced in 1966, replacing the East African Shilling. The first Ugandan shilling coins were issued in 1968 and the first banknotes were issued in Uganda in 1972. The shilling is pegged to the US dollar at a rate of 1 US dollar = 2,700 Uganda shillings.
