The Liberian dollar is the official currency of Liberia. The Liberian dollar replaced the West African dollar in 1935 and has been the currency of Liberia since. The ISO 4217 code for the Liberian dollar is LRD. One LRD is divided into 100 cents. The Liberian dollar is issued by the Central Bank of Liberia. The banknotes are printed by De La Rue. The banknotes are printed in denominations of L$5, L$10, L$20, L$50, and L$100. There are also coins in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 25, and 50 cents. The Liberian dollar is pegged to the United States dollar at a rate of 1 LRD = 0.01 USD.
