Bolivian Boliviano (1863–1963)

Bolivianos (BOB) are the currency of Bolivia. The first boliviano was introduced in 1864, with a value of 10 bolivianos = 1 peso boliviano = 10 US dollars. The boliviano was pegged to the US dollar at this rate until 1963, when the boliviano was devalued to 12.5 bolivianos = 1 US dollar. The boliviano was again devalued in 1986, this time to 20 bolivianos = 1 US dollar. In 1987, a new boliviano was introduced, worth 100 old bolivianos. The new boliviano was pegged to the US dollar at a rate of 6.9 bolivianos = 1 US dollar. The boliviano has been allowed to float since 1994. As of June 2016, 1 US dollar = 7.02 bolivianos.
