Buhid

Buhid is a Philippine script used primarily by the Buhid people of Mindoro. It is also used by the Hanuno'o people of Mindoro and by the Tagbanwa people of Palawan. The script consists of 17 letters, all of which are based on the Latin alphabet. The Buhid script was first documented by the Spanish in the 17th century. However, the script continued to be used even after the Spanish colonizers left the Philippines. In fact, the script is still in use today, albeit by a small number of people. There are a few different theories about the origins of the Buhid script. One theory suggests that the script is derived from the Javanese script, which was brought to the Philippines by traders from Southeast Asia. Another theory suggests that the script is of Arabic origin, as some of the letters resemble those used in the Arabic alphabet. Whatever its origins, the Buhid script is a unique and interesting part of Philippine history.
