XPL is a high-level, general-purpose, compiled, imperative programming language. It was designed in the early 1980s by a team at the University of York led by David May and Roger Moore. The language was designed to be easy to learn and use, and to be efficient both in terms of running time and memory usage. It is based on the Pascal programming language, but with some important differences. One of the most notable features of XPL is its support for concurrent programming. This allows programs to be written in a way that makes use of multiple processors, which can make them run much faster. XPL has been used in a wide variety of applications, including scientific computing, artificial intelligence, and database systems. It is also the language used in the popular video game Minecraft.
