Mohawk

The Mohawk language is an Iroquoian language spoken by around 3,500 people in North America, primarily in the Mohawk Nation in the Mohawk Valley in upstate New York. It is also spoken by the Mohawk people of Kahnawake in Quebec, Canada. The Mohawk language is closely related to other Iroquoian languages, such as Seneca and Cayuga. The Mohawk language is a member of the Iroquoian family of languages, which includes languages spoken by the Iroquois Confederacy and its member nations, as well as by other indigenous peoples in North America. The Mohawk language is one of the few surviving Iroquoian languages. It is currently endangered, with only a few hundred speakers remaining. The Mohawk language is primarily spoken by elderly people, as most young people have lost fluency in the language. Efforts are being made to revive the language, and there are now Mohawk language classes offered in some schools. There is also a Mohawk language radio station, and a Mohawk language newspaper.
