Karachay-Balkar

The Karachay-Balkar language is a Turkic language spoken by the Karachay-Balkar people, who are indigenous to the North Caucasus region. The language is closely related to other Turkic languages, such as Turkish, Azerbaijani and Turkmen. The Karachay-Balkar language has two main dialects: Karachay and Balkar. Karachay is spoken in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, while Balkar is spoken in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic. The Karachay-Balkar language is written using a modified version of the Cyrillic alphabet. The alphabet was first introduced in the 1930s, during the Soviet Union. Karachay-Balkar is one of the official languages of the Republic of Dagestan. It is also recognized as a minority language in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
