Church Slavic

Church Slavic is the liturgical language of the Slavic Orthodox Churches. It is also known as Old Church Slavonic and is derived from the Slavonic dialects spoken in the ninth century. Church Slavic was the first Slavic literary language and is considered to be the oldest Slavic language. It is still used in some Orthodox churches and is also studied by scholars.
