Spanish Peseta

ESP, also known as the Spanish Peseta, was the official currency of Spain until 2002, when it was replaced by the euro. Although no longer in circulation, the peseta remains an important part of Spain's economic history. The peseta was first introduced in 1869, replacing a variety of other currencies that were in use at the time. For the next 133 years, the peseta remained relatively stable, with only a few minor changes in value. In 2002, Spain officially switched to the euro, and the peseta was no longer legal tender. Although it was a difficult transition for some, the changeover was ultimately successful and Spain has flourished under the euro. The peseta will always hold a special place in the hearts of the Spanish people, and it remains an important part of the country's economic history.
