Brunei Dollar

BND is the currency of the Sultanate of Brunei. It is subdivided into 100 cents. The BND has been pegged to the Singapore dollar since 1967. The Brunei dollar was first introduced in 1967, replacing the Malayan dollar. The Brunei dollar is also interchangeably known as the Ringgit Brunei in Malay. In 1967, one Brunei dollar was equal to two Malayan dollars. The Brunei dollar is issued by the Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (Brunei Monetary Authority). The Brunei dollar is pegged to the Singapore dollar at a rate of 1:1 and both currencies are accepted in Brunei. The Singapore dollar is also accepted in Brunei. In 1967, when the Brunei dollar was introduced, it was equal to the Malaysian dollar. The Malaysian dollar was then replaced by the Malaysian ringgit in 1975. The Brunei dollar is still pegged to the Singapore dollar. 1 Brunei dollar = 100 cents The Brunei dollar is divided into 100 cents. There are coins of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 cents and 1 dollar, and notes of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 500 dollars.
