ARA is a proposed cryptocurrency created by the Ara Alliance. It is intended to be used as a global currency and will be based on the blockchain technology. The currency will be backed by a basket of assets, including gold, silver, and other commodities. The Ara Alliance is composed of a group of companies, including the online retailer Overstock.com. The currency is expected to launch in 2018.
