Angolan Kwanza

Angola's currency is the kwanza (AOA). It was introduced in 1977, replacing the Portuguese escudo at a rate of 1 kwanza = 1000 escudos. The kwanza is divided into 100 lwei. There are coins of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 lwei, and notes of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 kwanza.
