Turkey

Turkey is a country located in the eastern Mediterranean region. It borders Greece and Bulgaria to the northwest, the Black Sea to the north, Georgia to the northeast, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran to the east, and Iraq and Syria to the south. Turkey is the 35th largest country in the world with an area of 783,562 square kilometers. Turkey is a unitary parliamentary republic with a population of over 80 million. The official language of Turkey is Turkish and the currency is the Turkish lira. Turkey is a country with a rich culture and history. The country has been home to many civilizations including the Hittites, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks and Ottomans. Turkey is also the birthplace of many famous people such as the Prophet Muhammad, Homer, Saint Paul and Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Turkey is a land of great natural beauty. The country has a diverse landscape with mountains, forests, rivers and lakes. Turkey is also home to some of the world’s most famous archaeological sites such as the ruins of Troy, Ephesus and Hattusa. The economy of Turkey is the 16th largest in the world with a GDP of $842 billion. The country has a young and educated workforce and is a major tourist destination. Turkey is also a member of the UN, NATO, OECD and the G20.
