Ecuador

Ecuador is a country located in South America, bordered by Colombia to the north, Peru to the east and south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. It is the smallest country in the continent and one of the most biodiverse countries in the world. The country has a tropical climate, with average temperatures ranging from 18°C to 28°C. The coastline is about 2,237 kilometers long, and the country has a total area of 283,561 square kilometers. Ecuador is divided into four regions: the Costa (coast), the Sierra (highlands), the Oriente (east), and the Galápagos Islands. The capital city is Quito, which is located in the Sierra region. The country's economy is based on agriculture, fishing, forestry, and mining. The main agricultural products are bananas, coffee, cocoa, rice, potatoes, corn, and livestock. Ecuador is the world's leading exporter of bananas. The Galápagos Islands, located about 1,000 kilometers off the coast of Ecuador, are home to a unique variety of flora and fauna. The islands were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1978. Ecuador is a constitutional republic with a democratically-elected government. The current president is Lenín Moreno.
