Sanskrit

Sanskrit is a classical language of India, a liturgical language of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, and one of the 22 official languages of India. The name Sanskrit means "refined", "consecrated" and "sanctified". It has always been regarded as the 'high' language and used mainly for religious and scientific discourse. Sanskrit is considered as the mother of all the European languages. Sanskrit is the only language which is phonetically precise. The sounds in Sanskrit are so distinct that a child can learn to pronounce them perfectly from the very first attempt. This phonetic precision leads to a clarity of expression that is unsurpassed by any other language. Sanskrit was declared as one of the 22 languages of India in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India. This status was given in recognition of its rich literary and cultural heritage. Sanskrit is not only the Language of the Vedas and Upanishads, the great Hindu scriptures, but also the Language of the Epics and the Puranas. It is the Language of the great Hindu epics, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. Sanskrit is also the Language of the Bhagavad Gita, the great Hindu scripture. Sanskrit has been extensively used in the field of medicine. The Charaka Samhita, the Sushruta Samhita and the Ashtanga Hridaya, all great works on medicine, are in Sanskrit. Sanskrit has also been used in the field of architecture. The Mayamata and the Manasara, two great works on architecture, are in Sanskrit. Sanskrit has also been used in the field of music. The Natya Shastra, the great work on music, is in Sanskrit. Sanskrit is a very rich language and has been used in a variety of fields. It is a Language of great antiquity and has been a source of inspiration for many languages.
