Novial

Novial is an international auxiliary language created by Otto Jespersen in 1928. It was designed to be more regular and logical than natural languages, and to be more easily learned than Esperanto. Novial is based on Romance, Germanic, and Slavic languages, with a vocabulary mostly from English and German. Novial was created by Danish linguist Otto Jespersen in 1928. Jespersen was a well-known figure in the Esperanto movement, but he believed that Esperanto was too difficult for average speakers of other languages to learn. Jespersen's goals for Novial were to create a more regular and logical language than natural languages, and to make it easier to learn than Esperanto. Novial is based on Romance, Germanic, and Slavic languages. The vocabulary is mostly from English and German, with some words borrowed from other languages. Novial has a relatively simple grammar, and there is no gender or case. Novial was not widely adopted, and it is no longer in use. However, it influenced the development of other international auxiliary languages, such as Ido and Interlingua.
