Interlingua

Interlingua is an international auxiliary language created by the International Auxiliary Language Association in 1951. It is based on the major Western languages and designed to be easily learned and understood by speakers of those languages. Interlingua has a simplified grammar with only two tenses, present and past, and a vocabulary that is drawn from English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and German. It is written in a Latin alphabet and is pronounced as if it were Italian. Interlingua is one of the most widely used auxiliary languages, with speakers in more than 100 countries. It has been used as a lingua franca in international conferences and as a teaching language in schools and universities. Interlingua has been praised for its simple grammar and clear, concise wording. It has also been criticized for its lack of precision and for being too close to Western languages.
