Vanuatu Vatu

Vanuatu is a country located in the South Pacific Ocean. The official currency of Vanuatu is the vatu (VUV). The vatu has been the currency of Vanuatu since 1983, when it replaced the New Hebrides franc. The vatu is divided into 100 centimes. There are coins of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 centimes, and 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 vatu, and banknotes of 100, 200, 500, 1000, and 5000 vatu. The vatu is pegged to the Australian dollar at a rate of 1 vatu = A$0.01. The vatu is the only legal tender in Vanuatu, and is accepted for all debts, public and private. There are no restrictions on the import or export of vatu. The vatu is also legal tender in the French overseas collectivity of New Caledonia, which was formerly part of Vanuatu. The vatu is not traded on international currency markets. The value of the vatu is determined by the supply and demand for the currency in Vanuatu. The vatu is not pegged to any other currency, and the central bank does not intervene in the foreign exchange market. The vatu is used in all transactions in Vanuatu, including the pricing of goods and services. The vatu is also used in New Caledonia.
