Kuwait

Kuwait is a small, oil-rich country situated at the northern tip of the Arabian Gulf. Although Kuwait has been inhabited for millennia, it has only been a country since 1961. The small size and relative isolation of Kuwait have helped to keep it largely insulated from regional conflict. The Kuwaiti economy is heavily dependent on oil, which accounts for around 95% of government revenue and 90% of exports. However, the government has been working to diversify the economy and reduce its dependence on oil. In recent years, Kuwait has become a regional financial center and developed a thriving tourism sector. Kuwait has a population of around 4.5 million, of which around 70% are Kuwaiti citizens. The rest are mostly expatriates from other Arab countries, South Asia, and the Philippines. Kuwait is a Muslim country and Islam is the official religion. However, the government ensures that all religious groups are free to practice their faith. Kuwait is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system of government. The Emir of Kuwait is the head of state, while the Prime Minister is the head of government. Kuwait has a relatively open political system and regularly holds free and fair elections. Kuwait is a member of the United Nations, the Arab League, and the Gulf Cooperation Council. It is also a major non-NATO ally of the United States.
