WATFIV is a programming language that was developed in the mid-1960s at the University of Waterloo in Canada. It was designed to be easy to learn and use, and was intended for students who were new to programming. The language was based on FORTRAN, and had a similar syntax. However, it included some new features that made it more user-friendly. For example, it allowed programmers to use English words in their code, instead of just numbers and symbols. Despite its simplicity, WATFIV was a powerful language that could be used to write complex programs. It was used widely in universities and research laboratories throughout the world. In the early 1970s, a new version of the language was developed, called WATFIV-S. This version included a number of improvements, such as the ability to run programs on different types of computers. Today, WATFIV is no longer in use, but its legacy continues. Many of the concepts that it introduced are now standard in modern programming languages.
