UCSD Pascal is a Pascal programming language developed at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) from 1974 to 1983. It was created as a research and teaching tool by a team led by Professor Kenneth Bowles. The language was based on the existing Pascal programming language, but included many features that were innovative for its time. These included a large standard library, a method for handling I/O, and a sophisticated macro system. UCSD Pascal was widely used in academia, and was even adopted by some commercial organizations. It was eventually replaced by newer languages, but is still remembered fondly by many of its users.
