Sassarese Sardinian

Sardinian is a Romance language spoken on the island of Sardinia, Italy. It has about 1.6 million speakers and is closely related to other Romance languages such as Italian and Catalan. The Sardinian language has a long history, dating back to the Middle Ages. It was first written in the Latin alphabet but later switched to the Cyrillic alphabet during the Byzantine period. In the Middle Ages, Sardinian was also spoken in Corsica and parts of mainland Italy. However, the language began to decline in the mainland during the Renaissance, and today it is only spoken on Sardinia. Sardinian is currently undergoing a revival, with more people learning and using the language. In recent years, the Sardinian government has been investing in the language, providing funding for Sardinian-language schools and publications. There is a growing movement of people who are interested in Sardinian culture and language. If this trend continues, Sardinian may once again become a widespread language in the Mediterranean.
