Kosraean

Kosraean is a language spoken on the island of Kosrae in the Federated States of Micronesia. It is closely related to the other languages of the Caroline Islands, such as Chuukese and Pohnpeian. Kosraean has a complex system of grammatical particles, which are used to indicate the relationship between clauses and phrases. There are also a number of different verb tenses, which are used to indicate the time and aspect of an action. The language has a rich oral tradition, and many of the stories and poems that have been passed down through the generations are still recited today. There is also a strong tradition of song and dance on the island, and many of the songs are sung in Kosraean. The Kosraean alphabet consists of twenty-four letters, and is closely related to the Latin alphabet. However, there are a number of additional letters that are used in loanwords from other languages. Kosraean is spoken by around 7,000 people on the island of Kosrae, and by a small number of people in the diaspora. It is an official language of the Federated States of Micronesia, along with English and Chuukese.
