Indonesian

Indonesian is the official language of Indonesia. It is a standardized form of Malay, a member of the Austronesian family of languages, which includes languages such as Hawaiian, Maori, and Malagasy. Indonesian is spoken by over 230 million people, making it the fourth most widely spoken language in the world. The Indonesian language has a rich history, having been influenced by a number of other languages, including Sanskrit, Arabic, Portuguese, and Dutch. Indonesian is also the language of the national ideology, Pancasila. Pancasila consists of five principles that guide Indonesian society: belief in the one and only God; a just and civilized humanity; the unity of Indonesia; democracy guided by wisdom; and social justice for all Indonesians. Indonesian is a relatively easy language to learn, due to its simple grammar and lack of conjugation. It is also a very concise language, with a word order that is similar to English.
