Chuukese

Chuukese is a language spoken in Chuuk State, in the Federated States of Micronesia. It is one of the official languages of the Federated States of Micronesia, along with English and Kosraean. Chuukese is also spoken in the United States, in Guam, and in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. The Chuukese language is a member of the Austronesian family of languages, which also includes Hawaiian, Maori, and Malay. Chuukese is closely related to the languages of Pohnpei and Yap. Chuukese is written using the Latin alphabet. There are two main dialects of Chuukese: Eastern Chuukese and Western Chuukese. The Eastern dialect is spoken on the islands of Chuuk Lagoon, while the Western dialect is spoken on the islands of Chuuk Lagoon and in the Chuuk State. The Chuukese language has been influenced by English, Spanish, and German. Chuukese has also borrowed words from Japanese and Palauan.
