Arapaho

Arapaho is a Plains Algonquian language spoken by the Arapaho people of Colorado and Wyoming. It is one of only a handful of Plains Algonquian languages still spoken today. Arapaho is a polysynthetic language, meaning that words can be very long and complex. It is also a highly inflected language, with many different endings for verbs and nouns. The Arapaho language is endangered, with only a few hundred speakers remaining. However, there are efforts underway to revitalize the language, including teaching it in schools. The Arapaho language is an important part of the cultural heritage of the Arapaho people. It is a unique window into the history and culture of the Plains Indians.
