Yugoslavian New Dinar (1994–2002)

The YUM is the national currency of the Republic of Serbia. The Serbian dinar is subdivided into 100 YUM. The name of the currency derives from the Serbian Cyrillic alphabet. The YUM was first introduced on January 1, 1994, replacing the dinar at a rate of 1 YUM = 10,000 dinars. The YUM remained pegged to the dinar until February 7, 2002, when the dinar was allowed to float freely against the euro. The YUM is now the only currency used in Serbia. The YUM is issued by the National Bank of Serbia. The National Bank of Serbia has the sole right to issue and redeem YUM. The National Bank of Serbia also has the sole right to issue coins in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 YUM. Banknotes are issued in denominations of 100, 200, 500, 1000, 2000 and 5000 YUM. The YUM is pegged to the euro at a rate of 1 YUM = 0.01 Euros.
