Namibia

Namibia, officially the Republic of Namibia, is a country in southern Africa. Its western border is the Atlantic Ocean; it shares land borders with Zambia and Angola to the north, Botswana to the east and South Africa to the south and east. Although it does not border Zimbabwe, less than 200 metres of the Zambezi River separates the two countries. Namibia gained independence from South Africa on 21 March 1990, following the Namibian War of Independence. Its capital and largest city is Windhoek, and it is a member state of the African Union, the Southern African Development Community, the Commonwealth of Nations, and the United Nations. Namibia is a dry country with little rainfall. This is because it is located in the rain shadow of the highland areas to the east and south-east. The country receives most of its rainfall during the summer months, with December to April being the wettest period. The landscape of Namibia is very diverse, with the Namib Desert in the west, the Kalahari Desert in the east, and the Etosha Pan in the north. The central plateau is home to most of the country's population and is more fertile than the arid regions. Namibia is home to a number of interesting animals, including the cheetah, the world's fastest land animal. Other animals found in Namibia include the black rhinoceros, the desert-dwelling elephant, and the Namibian giraffe. Namibia is a country with a small population and a large amount of land. This makes it perfect for those who love to explore and experience new things. With its diverse landscapes and abundance of wildlife, Namibia is a truly unique and special place.
