The capital of Haiti is Port-au-Prince and the official language is French. Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world. The economy is based on agriculture, with coffee, cocoa, and sugar being the main exports. Tourism is also an important industry. Haiti has a long history of political instability and violence. In 2010, a major earthquake struck Haiti, causing widespread damage and loss of life. Haiti is a member of the United Nations, the Organization of American States, and the Caribbean Community.
