FoxBase/FoxPro

FoxBase is a database management system and programming language developed by Fox Software in the mid-1980s. It was one of the first commercially available relational database management systems for microcomputers. FoxBase was originally released for the Apple II in 1984, followed by versions for the Commodore 64, IBM PC, and Atari ST. A version for the Macintosh was also released in 1985. FoxBase was Fox Software's flagship product and was widely used in the 1980s and early 1990s. FoxBase was succeeded by FoxPro, which was released in 1992. FoxPro was a significant upgrade from FoxBase and included a number of new features, such as an integrated programming environment, an object-oriented programming interface, and support for Windows. FoxPro was discontinued in 2004, but the FoxPro programming language is still in use today by a small but loyal group of developers.
