Edinburgh IMP is a programming language developed in 1967 at the University of Edinburgh. It was one of the first programming languages to be implemented on a computer. Edinburgh IMP was designed to be a simple and easy to use language. It was based on the ALGOL programming language and was influenced by the work of John McCarthy and Peter Naur. The Edinburgh IMP language was used to write the first version of the Unix operating system. Edinburgh IMP is no longer in use today but it was an important step in the development of programming languages.
