DRAKON is a visual programming language designed for creating flowcharts of algorithms, workflows and business processes. The name is an acronym for "Dragon-Oriented Knowledge Representation Language". DRAKON was created by Sergei Aganov, a software engineer from Moscow, Russia. The first version was released in 1999. The DRAKON editor is a free and open source tool for creating and editing DRAKON diagrams. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. DRAKON is used in a wide variety of domains, including aerospace, banking, medicine, military and software engineering. It has been used to create mission-critical systems for the Russian space program and the Russian military. DRAKON is a very concise and efficient way of representing algorithms and processes. It is easy to learn and use, and is particularly well suited for complex or safety-critical systems.
