Turoyo

Turoyo, also called Surayt, is a Neo-Aramaic language spoken by the Assyrian people. It is written in the Syriac alphabet and is closely related to other Neo-Aramaic languages, such as Chaldean Neo-Aramaic, Tawaran Neo-Aramaic and Mandaic. Turoyo is spoken in the Assyrian homeland of northern Iraq, as well as in parts of Iran, Syria and Turkey. It is the native language of the Assyrian people, one of the oldest ethnic groups in the world. The Assyrians have their own unique culture and history, and their language is an important part of their identity. Turoyo is a endangered language, with only a few hundred speakers remaining. However, there is a growing effort to revive the language, and it is taught in some schools in the Assyrian homeland. There is also a growing body of literature in Turoyo, including books, newspapers and magazines. The future of Turoyo is uncertain, but the Assyrian people remain committed to preserving their language and culture.
