Bishnupriya

Manipuri Bishnupriya Manipuri, also known as Bishnupriya Manipuri, is a dialect of the Bengali-Assamese language spoken by the Bishnupriya Manipuri people. It is written in the Bengali alphabet and has been spoken in the Manipur region for centuries. Although the language is not commonly spoken outside of Manipur, it is one of the 22 scheduled languages of India and is recognized as a regional language in Bangladesh. The Bishnupriya Manipuri language is believed to have originated in the early 15th century, when a group of Bengali-speaking people from East Bengal (now Bangladesh) settled in the Manipur region. The language is thought to have evolved from a mix of Bengali and Assamese, with significant influence from other languages spoken in the region, such as Meithei and Sanskrit. Today, Bishnupriya Manipuri is spoken by around 1.5 million people, most of whom live in Manipur. It is also spoken in parts of Assam, Tripura, and Bangladesh. The language is used in a variety of settings, including at home, in the workplace, and in education. While the Bishnupriya Manipuri language has been in decline in recent years, there has been a recent resurgence of interest in the language, with a number of organisations and groups working to promote and preserve it.
