CFP Franc

The XPF is the currency of the French overseas collectivity of New Caledonia. It is pegged to the euro at a rate of 1 EUR = 119.882 XPF. The XPF is divided into 100 centimes. New Caledonia was a French colony for many years and only gained autonomy in 1988. Even though the currency is pegged to the euro, the XPF is issued by the local government and not by the European Central Bank. The XPF is used by approximately 275,000 people. It is also used in the French overseas collectivity of Wallis and Futuna. The XPF is not a widely used currency, but it can be helpful to know about it if you are planning to travel to New Caledonia or Wallis and Futuna.
