Indian National Calendar

The Indian National Calendar, also called the Saka Calendar, is used, alongside the Gregorian calendar, by the Government of India. It is used in several other countries as well, including Nepal and Indonesia. The Saka calendar was introduced in 1879 CE by Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II of Jaipur state. It was originally based on the lunisolar Hindu calendar, but has since been reformed to better align with the Gregorian calendar. The current version of the calendar is the one that was reformed in 1957.
