Fiji

Fiji is a tropical nation in the South Pacific, located about 2,000 kilometers (1,200 mi) northeast of New Zealand's North Island. Its closest neighbors are Vanuatu to the west, New Caledonia to the southwest, and Tuvalu to the southeast. The capital of Fiji is Suva, on the southeast coast of Viti Levu, the largest island in the group. The population of Fiji is 837,271 people, and the official languages are English and Fijian. The Fijian people are of Melanesian descent, with a small percentage of Polynesian and Micronesian ancestry. Fiji is a multi-ethnic and multicultural nation, with Hinduism and Christianity being the two main religions. The economy of Fiji is largely dependent on tourism and agriculture.
