Racket is a general-purpose, multi-paradigm programming language based on the Scheme dialect of Lisp. It is designed to be a platform for programming language research and implementation. Racket is also used in a variety of applications, from computer-aided design tools to web servers. Racket was created by Matthias Felleisen and PLT Inc. (formerly known as Programmers' Lab) in 1995. The name "Racket" is a play on the word "racket" (as in "noise" or "commotion"), and the logo is a double-sided racket. Racket is free and open-source software released under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL).
