Cuneiform is one of the oldest programming languages in existence. It was first used over 5,000 years ago in Mesopotamia, and was the first written language. Cuneiform was used to record laws, tax records, and other important information. The language was written in wedge-shaped symbols that were impressed into soft clay tablets. Cuneiform continued to be used for over 3,000 years, until it was eventually replaced by alphabetic writing. Despite its age, Cuneiform is still studied by scholars and historians.
