COMTRAN is a high-level programming language developed by CERN in the 1960s. It was designed to be easy to learn and use, and to be suitable for writing large programs. COMTRAN was used extensively at CERN, and was also used by other scientific organizations, such as the National Science Foundation. COMTRAN was eventually replaced by FORTRAN as the main programming language at CERN, but it is still used by some scientists.
