Selayar

Selayar is a language spoken on the island of Selayar, south of Sulawesi in Indonesia. It is part of the Austronesian family of languages. Selayar is one of the few Austronesian languages that does not have a voiceless consonant. The language has been described as having "a complex system of verbal agreement." The Selayar language is spoken by about 200,000 people. Most of the speakers live on the island of Selayar, but there are also speakers in the cities of Makassar and Palopo on Sulawesi. There are also a few speakers in the city of Jakarta. The Selayar language is a member of the Austronesian family of languages.
