Najdi Arabic

Najdi Arabic is a form of Arabic spoken in Saudi Arabia. It is also spoken in neighboring countries such as Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman. Najdi Arabic has many dialects, but the one spoken in the Najd region of Saudi Arabia is the most widely known. Najdi Arabic is distinct from other forms of Arabic in its use of the pronoun n- (for first person singular), its use of the letter j instead of y, and its use of the letter q instead of k. Najdi Arabic is also notable for its use of the word akk, meaning "yes". Najdi Arabic is not written in the Arabic alphabet. Instead, it is written in a form of the Latin alphabet known as "Najdi Latin." Najdi Latin was developed in the 1920s by Saudi Arabian scholars who wanted to create a writing system that could be used by all Arabs, regardless of their dialect. The Najdi Arabic dialect is spoken by about 4 million people in Saudi Arabia. It is also spoken by small communities in other countries, such as Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman.
