North Korean Won

The KPW is the official currency of North Korea. It is subdivided into 100 chon and is issued by the Central Bank of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The KPW was introduced in 1947, replacing the Korean yen at a rate of 1 KPW = 10 Korean yen. The first North Korean coins were minted in 1959 and the first banknotes were issued in 1945. The KPW is not traded outside of North Korea, and the only country that uses it as its sole currency is North Korea.
